What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of aligners. They are made of plastic, so they are clear. The liners are very strong and can take much punishment. Best of all, they are removable. You can take them in and out of your mouth. This is a great advantage because you can remove the aliners to brush and floss your teeth. You can also remove them to eat. These aliners are great for adults who want to have straighter teeth, or who need their teeth spaced correctly. Adults with mild bite problems can also benefit from Invisalign.
How Does It Work?
To begin the process for Invisalign, you need to come into our office. We can then take pictures of your teeth, and also take x-rays, or examine them if we have them already. We can use those x-rays and photos to make models of your teeth, which is how we make Invisalign aligners. We use programs to map out a plan for you to straighten or correct the spacing of your teeth. Instead of focusing on your whole mouth, we focus on one or two teeth at a time. After we begin the process of straightening your teeth, you will have to come in every other month to get your teeth checked and receive a new set of aligners.
Advantages of Invisalign
Using Invisalign has many advantages. Invisalign has no metal wires or brackets, which can cut into your teeth and gums, or break, and have to be replaced. One of the best advantages with Invisalign is that you can continue your dental care with the aligners. You can brush and floss your teeth daily without braces or brackets getting in the way.
